THE DeACT STORY
Responding to the pandemic
DeACT is another one of those ideas that come up at bars or restaurants. We thought a handheld and powerful UVC steriliser would be useful, during and after Covid-19, to help protect both loved ones at home, staff and customers at work. It could encourage best hygiene practices to build a healthier, cleaner living and working spaces.
Time sensitive
An international team was quickly assembled. Design and development was completed in record time during the summer of 2020. Our biggest challenge was to build a steriliser that can kill germs in a few seconds. Half a minute was just too long for people to use effectively.
We achieved our goal with flying colours!
DeACT was laboratory tested on Bacteria and Coronavirus.
It kills 99.99% of germs in under 5 seconds, and 99.99% Coronavirus in under 3 seconds.
DeACT is a truly effective and practical UVC Sterilizer. It can be used indoors or outdoors. It also has a broad sterilisation footprint to keep large surfaces germs-free.
WHAT IS UVC?
A brief history of UVC
More than 140 years ago, Downes and Blunt discovered the shorter wavelength of sunlight had antibacterial effects and it was shortly proven that UV portions of the light spectrum could destroy microorganisms.
How does it kill germs?
The method used is known as Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation.
It deactivates microorganisms by disabling their DNA, RNA and protein.
UVC (260nm – 280nm) is the most germicidal part of the UV spectrum (100nm – 400nm).
Detectable UVA and UVB from the sun on earth surface ranges from 280nm to 400nm.
Why use UVC?
The disinfection process is dry.
It is non-toxic.
It will not adversely affect the disinfected surfaces.
It will not contaminate the air around the disinfected surfaces.
